The Fruitful Vine
The Fruitful Vine, often referred to as "The Vine," is a ministry dedicated to supporting the parish clergy in serving the community. This ministry focuses on extending hospitality and support to newcomers, inquirers, and catechumens, helping to foster a welcoming and nurturing church environment.
A key element of The Vine's work is the Tending Team, a group that actively greets visitors and invites them to coffee hour, where they introduce them to other parishioners and build connections. The team also plays a vital role in assisting with inquiry classes, providing refreshments, engaging in discussions about Orthodoxy, and ensuring that inquirers and catechumens are informed about church activities.
Beyond welcoming newcomers, The Vine extends its ministry to the broader community by organizing meal trains for new parents, those who are ill, or individuals grieving the loss of a loved one. They visit the sick and homebound, especially around major church feast days, and work to provide assistance for members who may need help with moving or other forms of support.
This ministry is open to all parishioners aged eleven and older, and meetings are announced in advance for anyone interested in joining. The Vine ministry strengthens the bonds within the parish community by embodying a spirit of service, hospitality, and mutual care. Through its outreach and support, The Vine cultivates an environment where each person feels valued and connected.
